چکیده

Candida dubliniensis is being increasingly reported as an opportunistic infection in patients with human immunodeÞ ciency virus (HIV) infection.1 It has an ability to rapidly develop ß uconazole resistance in vitro; therefore, it is important to identify it.2 C. dubliniensis and C. albicans have a close genotypic relationship resulting in sharing a broad range of phenotypic characteristics. This hampers the accurate and rapid differentiation of the two species. We utilized Staib agar media for differentiating the isolates of C. dubliniensis from other Candida spp.

Simple, inexpensive, reliable method for differentiation of Candida dubliniensis from Candida albicans.

Candida dubliniensis is a recently described pathogenic species which shares many phenotypic features with Candida albicans, including the ability to form germ tubes and chlamydospores. These similarities have caused significant problems in the identification of C. dubliniensis by the average clinical mycology laboratory. To facilitate the differentiation of these species, we investigated the g...

Differentiation of Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis using a single-enzyme PCR-RFLP method.

Candida dubliniensis is a novel Candida spp. that is similar to Candida albicans with respect to several phenotypic characteristics. However, they differ from each other with respect to epidemiology, pathogenesis, and the rapid development of resistance to fluconazole. In the present study, we used a single-enzyme PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) technique to differentiate C....

Investigation of the Antifungal Effect of Rosa Damascena Essential Oil and Mixed Mouthwash (Grape Vinegar and Rosa Damascena essential oil) Against Candida albicans, Candida dubliniensis, Candida parapsilosis and Candida glabrata

Background and Objective: Oral candidiasis is often caused by Candida albicans, followed by C. dubliniensis, C. parapsilosis, and C. glabrata. The present study aimed to investigate the antifungal effects of Rosa damascena (R. damascena) essential oil, mixed mouthwash of R. damascena essential oil and grape vinegar, as well as nystatin against various standard Candida species. Materials and Me...

Rapid identification of Candida species with species-specific DNA probes.

Rapid identification of Candida species has become more important because of an increase in infections caused by species other than Candida albicans, including species innately resistant to azole antifungal drugs. We previously developed a PCR assay with an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) format to detect amplicons from the five most common Candida species by using universal fungal primers and species...

Rapid identification and differentiation of Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis by capillary-based amplification and fluorescent probe hybridization.

We developed a rapid genotypic assay to differentiate the germ tube-positive yeasts Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis. Fluorescently labeled nucleic acid probe binding and subsequent denaturation from the target site in the PCR amplicons produced characteristic peak melting temperatures (T(m)) that identified each species. Peak T(m)s of C. albicans (n = 69) and C. dubliniensis (n = 28) ...
